Retirement Celebration

"A good teacher is like a candle, it consumes itself to light the way for others.”  This is significantly true for the Sweetwater Union High School District teachers who retired this 2011.  Our honorees: Mrs. Dolores Balane from Eastlake High School, Ms. Virginia Ferrer from Otay Ranch High School, and Mr. Felizardo Moscoso from Montgomery High School taught Filipino classes and other core subjects. Indeed, they lighted and enriched students’ lives in understanding and appreciating the Filipino language and its cultural heritage.

Matriano In its own little way and cognizant of all the exemplary accomplishments and valuable contributions, both nationally and internationally, CTFLC proudly honored Dr. Matriano during its traditional Christmas gathering held at her residence on December 10, 2011. Ang Bintana sa Ospital by Virginia Ferrer

CTFLC would like to share the poem, “Ang Bintana sa Ospital”, composed by Virginia Ferrer. ANG BINTANA SA OSPITAL (Adaptayson ni Virginia Ferrer) Sa ‘sang di-kalayuang ospital sa labas ng lungsod may dalawang lalaking pasyente duo’y nakabukod kapwa matanda’t mahina na kanilang mga tuhod kontento na silang dalawa at walang pagkabagot. Ang isa ay hinahayaan na maupo sa kama ng isang oras sa hapon para makapagpahinga at tuloy makaunat sa maghapong pagkakahiga para tumulo ang tubig na mula sa kanyang baga. Malapit ang kama niya sa nag-iisang bintana ng kanilang kuwartong di-mapagkakailang luma ang isang lalaki naman ay lagi lang nakahiga at hindi na nakakatayo at talagang malubha.
