2017 First CTFLC Professional Development
Last July 7, 2017, CTFLC provided a Professional Development Workshop to its members. With the leadership of Mrs. Myrna P. Ablana, CTFLC President, they arrived at Skyline Hills Library Branch at 9:30 A.M.
One of the CTFLC goals is to provide professional development to teachers assisting them in bringing culture and language to students and the community. This workshop aimed to share best practices and teaching resources to teachers. Furthermore, with the banner “Sharing of Teaching Resources in the Classroom,” CTFLC members were speakers as well as participants. This was an excellent opportunity for teachers to support each other keeping the Filipino Language alive.
The following topics were presented:

“Introductory Lesson” - Dr. Ofelia C. Rayos (Southwestern College and Cuyamaca College)
“Grapika ng Buhay” - Mr. Salvador S. Idos (Retired Teacher from Morse High School)
“Filipino Games for Filipino 3-4” - Mrs. Rizalyn M. Cruz (Otay Ranch High School)
“Multiple Intelligence” - Mrs. Maria R. Fontimayor (NSWF Language Program)
“Cardinal and Ordinal Numbers” - Mrs. Myrna P. Ablana (Challenger Middle School)
“Other Classroom Resources” - Ms. Blancaflor N. Villanueva (Sweetwater High School )
“Resources From Fulbright Program” - Ms. Jacquilin Magat-Lapid (Mira Mesa High School)
“Students’ Work” - Mrs. Rosalina V. Idos (Retired Teacher from Morse High School)

By 3:00 PM, everybody left mentally satisfied knowing that they had enough arsenal of knowledge to keep teaching Filipino language exciting and interesting.
